If you crave a deeper connection with God and others, try Alpha.

What is Alpha?

Alpha—a part of our Stewardship of Faith offerings—is a rare opportunity to explore questions of life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open, and informal environment. No pressure. No charge. No follow-up.

Alpha runs in churches, homes, coffee shops, and bars all over the world. The session format typically includes a video and time afterwards for sharing your thoughts in a small group setting. Alpha is open to all people, whether you’re a regular parishioner who’s just curious about what this new program might be, or you’re interested in learning more about Christianity, you are welcome to attend!

Alpha Fall 2024 Session Begins Thursday, October 3

Join a conversation around life, faith, and meaning.

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring life, faith and meaning. It’s a space to explore the big questions; to say what you think and hear other people’s point of view. First up there’s food, then a talk, followed by discussion. Each talk explores a different aspect of the Christian faith. And then in the small group you get to say exactly what you think. The aim of the talk is to spark conversation—each week, unpacking a different question. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say! It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment. Why not try it out?

St. John Vianney will be running an Alpha Course beginning Thursday, October 3, 2024. Sessions will run Thursday evenings from October 3 through November 21 from 7:00pm-9:00pm. All Alpha sessions will be held in Mullen Commons (behind the church) and will begin with a free meal. The sessions should last roughly two hours. Please feel free to join us for any of the sessions.

And if you’re not sure about signing up, but find your curiosity is piqued, please drop in to any Alpha session.
