Baptism for Infants
Congratulations on being blessed with a child!
Baptism is the hopeful beginning of a lifetime of faith. It unites the one baptized with Christ and his people. We are excited to journey with you and your family towards the waters of baptism for your child.
In bringing your child for Baptism, you are accepting the responsibility of providing for your child's spiritual needs as they grow and develop and come to accept this faith on their own through continued faith formation and reception of sacraments.
The path to Infant Baptism at St. John Vianney begins with an invitation to attend our Infant Baptism Informational meeting. Please check our parish calendar for upcoming dates, or contact our Parish Office (925) 939-7911, ext. 0 for information regarding the meeting.
Baptism Preparation Classes
Parents and godparents are required to attend a Preparation class held on the 4th Friday of the month.

Baptism Children and Youth ages 6 to 18
Children and youth of catechetical age (old enough to learn about their faith) who have not been baptized should register in and attend our Family Faith Formation program for at least one year prior to beginning preparation for Baptism, First Eucharist, and First Reconciliation. Baptism 18 years of age and above
If you're an adult over 18 years old and are interested in Baptism, you are a candidate for the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) program.
